British motorcycle maker Triumph has confirmed its plans for India and is all set to make an entry by the end of this calendar year. The company had earlier announced its India-bound range along with prices at the Auto Expo in January 2012. However, the launch announcement got delayed owing to multiple reasons.
The company has now appointed Vimal Sumbly, taking on the role of Triumph India’s Managing Director. With an experience of 16 years, Sumbly was earlier the General Manager, Sales, Bajaj Auto Ltd. Speaking of the brand’s entry into India and his new role, Sumbly said he is delighted to have joined Triumph as the brand looks to embark on a well phased out strategy for the Indian market. “Soon Indian customers will be able to experience these category winning machines on Indian roads.”The Triumph range of motorcycles staring from the Bonneville and going up to the Rocket will be launched close to the end of 2013. Of these models, some will be assembled at the company’s CKD facility under construction in Manesar, Haryana. The company is presently working towards establishing its dealer network across the country. The plant’s capacity and the company’s sales targets are yet to be known.

In the past few months, we have carefully assessed the market landscape and will be making well-honed efforts to provide our discerning customers with a complete brand experience,” said Paul Stroud, Director Sales & Marketing, Triumph in a release.
